Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Rockets

Jamal Murray is the biggest reason that this trade is a win for the Rockets. They have been looking for a star who could replace James Harden and this trade would give them that potential.

Denver saw Murray step up big-time in the playoffs. He went on an absolute tear, averaging 26.5 points per game to go along with 6.6 assists and 4.8 rebounds in 19 games. Murray shot 50.5 percent from the floor and a sizzling 45.3 percent from three-point range.

Those numbers may not be something to expect long-term from Murray, but he showed he is capable of carrying a franchise.

Add in the two first-round picks and a possibly valuable pick swap and this trade makes even more sense. Gary Harris is no slouch either. He averaged 10.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game last season and is a career 36 percent three-point shooter.

This trade checks all of the boxes for the Rockets. If this deal is on the table for Houston, they should pull the trigger without question, even though losing a talent like Harden is difficult.
