Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Magic

As we briefly touched on in the previous slide, the Magic would be making this deal with the hope that Victor Oladipo would look like his old self and possibly consider re-signing with the franchise.

Oladipo spent the first three years of his career with the Magic. While the end of that tenure wasn’t great between the two, Oladipo did enjoy his time with Orlando overall. They have a talented roster and he is good friends with Aaron Gordon still.

If the Magic were to pull the trigger and Oladipo was back to full health, he would immediately become their go-to option in the back-court.

Add in the fact that Evan Fournier doesn’t want to be in Orlando anymore, and this deal makes even more sense. Even if they lost Oladipo after one season, it would be the same kind of situation they are already in. Fournier will hit free agency next offseason as well.

This is a scenario where the Magic couldn’t lose either way. Spending a second-round pick to make this happen would be a no-brainer. Oladipo heading back to Orlando would be worth a shot for the Magic.
