Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Spurs

Moving on from DeMar DeRozan should be a no-brainer for the Spurs if they get offered a piece or pieces that they can build around moving forward.

Even though Andrew Wiggins has never become the superstar that everyone once thought he would be, he is still a quality player. Wiggins is the kind of player you can try to build around. He is a great scorer and is only 25 years old.

Last season with the Warriors, Wiggins ended up averaging 21.8 points per game to go along with 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists. He shot 45.7 percent from the floor overall and 33.9 percent from the three-point line after being traded to the Warriors.

If the Spurs were to acquire him, there is no doubt that Wiggins would be their No. 1 option. He has always played with a star that overshadowed him. Karl-Anthony Towns was the No. 1 option with the Timberwolves for the majority of his career.

Wiggins may be a bit of a risk, especially with the contract he is currently on. However, he could also end up being a nice long-term addition for the Spurs. Adding two second-round picks would give them more assets as well.
