After losing Gordon Hayward to the Charlotte Hornets in free agency, the Boston Celtics will have to adjust. Perhaps the simplest way to do so would be to bolster the team’s talent at the forward spot— Paul Millsap could be a potential option.
According to The Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach, Millsap has the Celtics atop his list of teams he’s considering in NBA free agency. A decision regarding where he will sign is expected to come later today.
During the 2019-20 NBA season, Millsap appeared in 51 games for the Denver Nuggets. He produced averages of 11.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in an important role alongside Nikola Jokic in the frontcourt. He remains a productive player entering his 15th season.
The Celtics would benefit from adding Millsap when considering he would bring a combination of size, defensive versatility, post-up scoring, and perimeter shooting. Overall, adding him into the mix would help Boston to match up with teams using bigger frontcourt combinations.

The Celtics experienced a lack of impact in the frontcourt against the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals. Going up against Bam Adebayo proved to be a challenge and the strength of Millsap would help to better matchup with Miami for that reason.
