The Portland Trail Blazers have been busy this NBA offseason. First, trading for Robert Covington from the Houston Rockets. Next up, Rodney Hood is making his return to “Rip City” on a new contract.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Trail Blazers are signing Hood to a two-year, $21 million contract.
There were concerns about what the market may have been for Hood after he suffered a torn Achilles during a contract year. That didn’t appear to have a major impact on his earnings when considering he still managing to clear an average of $10.5 million per season.
The Trail Blazers will have some intriguing lineup combinations they can use with Hood making his return to the lineup. For maximum floor spacing, Portland can slot Robert Covington at the four and slide in Hood to fill the three spot— forming a complete four-out attack.

It will be intriguing to see how effective Hood can manage to be after making a return from such a difficult injury. If he remains effective, his ability to score will continue to provide a boost to a Trail Blazers team that needs complements to Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum.
During the 2019-20 NBA season, Rodney Hood appeared in just 21 games for the Portland Trail Blazers. He provided a solid impact— posting averages of 11.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.
