Rockets have shown interest in signing DeMarcus Cousins

DeMarcus Cousins has been a relatively forgotten about name on the NBA free agency market this offseason. While he missed the entire 2019-20 season due to an injury, he is on the market and teams are interested. One team to watch could be the Houston Rockets.

According to a report from Kelly Iko of The Athletic, the Rockets are showing interest in signing Cousins this offseason.

This is a very intriguing report to take note of. Houston has been dealing with a ton of drama surrounding both James Harden and Russell Westbrook. They have not made a move yet and no one truly knows what to expect from the Rockets moving forward.

Pursuing a guy like Cousins would make even more sense if Harden and Westbrook were for sure staying. If he is able to stay healthy, Cousins could be a huge addition in the front-court.

Back in 2018-19 with the Golden State Warriors, Cousins ended up averaging 16.3 points per game to go along with 8.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.3 steals. He shot 48 percent from the floor and knocked down 27.4 percent of his three-point attempts.

At 30 years old, DeMarcus Cousins still feels that he can offer his next team a lot. He can still score and rebound. A team like the Rockets, who need help in the front-court, makes perfect sense for him.

It will be interesting to see what the rest of the offseason has in store for the Rockets. Will they trade Harden or Westbrook? They also just signed Christian Wood, who had a breakout season in 2019-20 with the Detroit Pistons.

Expect to hear more rumors about Cousins and the Rockets as we move forward in free agency. This is something to keep a close eye on.
