The Brooklyn Nets are expected to be busy in NBA free agency as they try to build the roster around Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. One player that they have been hoping to re-sign this offseason is Joe Harris. Well, news has been broken about what to expect from Harris’ free agency.
According to a report from Marc Stein of the New York Times, the Nets are expected to end up re-signing Harris this offseason.
Harris sticking with the Nets is no big surprise. He has always preferred to remain with Brooklyn. Remaining where he is will give him the opportunity to be an important part of a very serious championship contender.
While he is expected to re-sign with the Nets, there were a ton of teams interested in acquiring Harris. Why? Quite simply, he has become one of the most lethal three-point threats in the game.
Last season with the Nets, Harris ended up averaging 14.5 points per game to go along with 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists. He shot 48.6 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 42.4 percent of his three-point attempts. Those numbers show why it is so important for the Nets to keep him.
Around Irving and Durant, the Nets have to have floor spacing. Both of the superstars are ball dominant players who thrive when they get into the paint. Being able to kick out to top-notch shooters will be valuable.
It will be interesting to see what kind of money Joe Harris ends up getting from the Nets. Or even if another team comes out of nowhere to pry him away.
Expect to hear more news about Harris and the Nets in the near future. The free agency frenzy is underway, so stay tuned.
