Veteran forward Marcus Morris signed a one-year deal with the New York Knicks last NBA offseason. He was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers for a first-round pick and finished out the season in the bubble. Now, Morris will be in search of a new contract.
Morris was in the middle of his best statistical year with the Knicks. He was averaging over 19 points per game before being traded. When he arrived in Los Angeles, his numbers were expected to dip. He still averaged 10.2 points per game for the Clippers over the second half of the season.
Morris is one of the most underrated players available in free agency. He has turned into a talented scorer, especially from the mid-range. He can create his own shot in the half-court and can be a lethal catch and shoot threat from the perimeter.
While Morris will not handle the ball well in the frontcourt or run the floor faster than most, he is a talented offensive player who can rebound effectively. That combination of attributes is an attractive combination for a team without a long-term answer at small forward.
It is unknown what Marcus Morris will demand in free agency after a one year deal. There are four teams that will take a flyer on Morris when the free agency period begins.
