John Wall makes it clear he wants Wizards to trade him

The Washington Wizards recently have engaged in trade talks for Houston Rockets star Russell Westbrook with John Wall being the centerpiece of the deal. Now, it’s not just Westbrook that wants to be traded from his current team— Wall has joined in on the fun with a trade request of his own.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Wall has made it clear he wants to be traded out of Washington. The Wizards could be additionally motivated to move on from their former franchise-cornerstone given this latest development.

With both Wall and Westbrook wanting to be traded, there appears to be a legitimate pathway for both the Rockets and Wizards to get a potential trade done. There is now added motivation from both sides that could make each organization simply want to move on.

The main obstacle in the Wizards’ talks with the Rockets has been their inability to offer much for NBA Draft compensation to pair with Wall. Houston feels as though Wall’s extensive injury history should warrant receiving additional compensation in a swap.
