Enes Kanter reacts to being traded to the Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers are reuniting with a former fan favorite. News broke on Friday that the Blazers were acquiring big man Enes Kanter from the Boston Celtics in a three-team trade with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Following the news of the trade, Kanter took to his Twitter account and shared a heartwarming reaction to being traded back to Portland.

After struggling to find a consistent role with the Celtics last season, a move to the Trail Blazers will be welcomed. He had a lot of success with Portland back in 2018-19 and will resume his role as the backup to Jusuf Nurkic.

As a side note to the trade, this likely means that Hassan Whiteside will be on his way out of town.

Back in the 2018-19 season with the Trail Blazers in 23 games and eight starts, Kanter averaged 13.1 points per game to go along with 8.6 rebounds. He became a fan favorite quickly and fit perfectly into head coach Terry Stotts’ system.

Over the last few years, the Trail Blazers have been very competitive in the Western Conference. Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum have come so close to making a run to the NBA Finals. Kanter may not move the needle much, but he will certainly be a nice supporting piece.

Kanter has been moved quite a bit throughout his career. Even with all of the moves, it is obvious that Kanter feels at home in Portland.

Expect to see the fans welcome Enes Kanter back with open arms. Returning to the Trail Blazers is a bit of a homecoming and his Twitter post shows just how excited Kanter is about the move.
