The Los Angeles Clippers have been looking to make some moves this offseason after a horrible end to the 2019-20 NBA season. Doc Rivers was removed as head coach and Tyronn Lue has replaced him. Now, it appears that the Clippers are interested in trading for Charlotte Hornets guard Terry Rozier.
Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated made the report and it certainly is an intriguing one to digest.
L.A. has also explored a deal for Charlotte’s Terry Rozier, per league source.
It has been clear that the Clippers would like to find an upgrade at the point guard position. Patrick Beverley was the team’s starting point guard last season. Landry Shamet also played some point guard, but he was traded on draft night.
Another name that has been of interest has been Rajon Rondo. He played last season with the Lakers. While Rondo is likely the better true point guard, Rozier seems to have a better offensive game.
Last season with the Hornets, Rozier ended up averaging 18 points per game to go along with 4.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists. He shot 42.3 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 40.7 percent of his three-point attempts. Rozier also chipped in a steal per game.
At 26 years of age, Rozier is still a very intriguing player who brings a lot of energy on both ends of the court. He may not be an elite defender, but he is more than capable of defending.
This will be a situation to keep an eye on. The Clippers are going to be aggressive as they look to win a championship with Paul George and Kawhi Leonard leading the way. Acquiring Terry Rozier from the Hornets could be a nice step in that direction.
Expect to hear a lot more rumors surrounding the Clippers in the near future. With free agency set to begin, things are going to heat up.
