After making the decision to opt-out for his player option, Gordon Hayward will join this year’s class of NBA free agents. He will have no shortage of interested suitors but one team that won’t be a landing spot appears to be the Boston Celtics.

At some point, the New York Knicks will need to add established veteran talents to be more competitive in a quickly improving Eastern Conference. The small forward position is particularly weak for them and Hayward would provide a clear upgrade.

With the decision to select Obi Toppin in the 2020 NBA Draft, the Knicks would benefit from making an aggressive push at the point guard position. The Charlotte Hornets no longer a logical suitor for Russell Westbrook and there isn’t much competition at this point. An offseason haul of Hayward and Westbrook would be quite impressive.
