Former NBA GM explains why Anthony Edwards was ‘best fit’ for Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves used the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft to add former Georgia standout Anthony Edwards to their team. He will form an impressive trio with Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell.

RADIO.COM Sports NBA Insider and former Suns general manager Ryan McDonough explained how Edwards was the ‘best fit’ for the Timberwolves with the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

“When you look at the Timberwolves’ roster, you look at D’Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns, their two building blocks,” McDonough said, via RADIO.com. “James Wiseman was not a great fit with those guys. LaMelo Ball was not a great fit with those guys.

“(Edwards) was the best fit. He was my prediction throughout the last couple of weeks… he’s a powerful driver, he gets to the basket, and he’s a good shooter.”

The alternative options for the Timberwolves featured James Wiseman and LaMelo Ball. Some NBA Draft analysts feel that Ball is the best all-around player in this class while others believe that title belongs to Edwards or Wiseman. Regardless, Minnesota is confident in their choice.
