Bogdan Bogdanovic believes he can get $18 million per season

The latest class of NBA free agents may not have elite players that are expected to change teams, but there are quality players. Among them is Sacramento Kings’ Bogdan Bogdanovic.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Bogdanovic believes he can get an offer with an average salary of $18 million— amounting to a deal in the four-year, $72 million range.

“The word on the street, I always have to be careful of this because I get in trouble, the word on the street is he thinks he can get an offer, or there’s belief that there’s offers out there that average $18 million per year,” said Brian Windhorst. “Somewhere in the four-year, $72 million range. That, I think a lot of people think would come from Atlanta. I think the most Milwaukee can do is something closer to the $15 million to $16 million per year range. Over four years, that’s $8 million or $9 million, depending on where all the decimal points go. That’s not an insignificant amount of money.”

Prior to the 2020 NBA Draft, there was reports of a potential sign-and-trade deal between the Milwaukee Bucks and Sacramento Kings for Bogdanovic. That was refuted and the NBA is now investigating the situation since it wasn’t legal to have agreements with free agents.

There will be plenty of NBA teams interested in pursuing Bogdanovic, who will be a restricted free agent. The Sacramento Kings used the No. 12 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft to bring in former Iowa State standout Tyrese Haliburton— making it appear unlikely they’d pay big money to retain Bogdanovic.

During the 2019-20 NBA season, Bogdan Bogdanovic appeared in 61 games for the Sacramento Kings— producing averages of 15.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists.
