The Oklahoma City Thunder have been wheeling and dealing with Sam Presti doing everything he can to gain draft assets and set the franchise up for the future. Kelly Oubre was part of the blockbuster trade that sent Chris Paul to the Phoenix Suns, but he could be on the move again as well.
According to a report from Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype, the Thunder are looking to move Oubre for a first-round pick on draft night.
Oubre is a very intriguing trade target for teams to take a look at. He would be a quality addition for anyone looking to bring in a starting wing.
During the 2019-20 NBA season with the Suns, Oubre ended up averaging 18.7 points per game to go along with 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists. He shot 45.2 percent from the floor and 35.2 percent from the three-point line. Those numbers would look good for a mid-to-late first-round pick.
One team to keep a close eye on could be the Golden State Warriors. They still have a large trade exception worth $17.2 million that came from the Andre Iguodala trade that expires on November 23rd. Oubre’s contract could fit perfectly into that exception and the Thunder’s price won’t break the bank.
At just 24 years old, Oubre still has plenty of room to develop. He has already become a solid all-around starter. Giving up a first-round pick for a young starter would have to be intriguing for a few different teams around the league.
It will be interesting to see if the Thunder get any bites on Oubre. If they don’t, Presti and Oklahoma City would likely be happy to keep him around.
Expect to hear a lot more rumors coming from the Thunder as the offseason progresses. They have been making moves left and right and that won’t stop. Kelly Oubre is a name to keep a close eye on with the NBA Draft almost upon us.
