Three teams showing interest in trade with Cavs for No. 5 pick in NBA Draft

The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently slated to draft at No. 5 overall in tonight’s 2020 NBA Draft. While many believe that they could stick with that pick and take a prospect like Deni Avdija, there are some rumblings that they could trade the pick.

According to a report from Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, the New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, and Boston Celtics have all talked with the Cavaliers about a potential trade for the No. 5 pick.

Granted, just because teams call with interest in a pick doesn’t mean that there are substantial talks. However, the Cavaliers are going to be interested in adding more assets if they can. They are looking to break out and make a push at the playoffs.

Looking at the three teams who have been rumored to be talking about a potential trade, the Knicks hold the No. 8 overall pick, the Celtics hold the No. 14, 26, and 30 overall picks, and the Pistons hold the No. 7 pick. If they want to move up, those picks would have to be included.

Another thing the Cavaliers could be looking for is young talent. Perhaps they could have interest in Kevin Knox from the Knicks or Romeo Langford from the Celtics.

No one truly knows what the Cavaliers are going to do today. The NBA Draft is just hours away and there are going to be quite a few draft-night trades. Cleveland could very well be one of them if the right offer comes along.

Expect to hear plenty more rumors surrounding the Cavaliers as the day moves forward. They are not going to be shy about making a trade if it improves their roster and these three teams might just make that offer.

On the other hand, if the Cavaliers stand pat, they should be able to snag a very talented young player to add to their core.
