The Boston Celtics have been looking to trade Gordon Hayward this offseason and there have been a lot of rumors surrounding the situation. Now, it appears that three teams are hot in pursuit of Hayward. Those teams are the Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, and Indiana Pacers.
That report comes from ESPN’s Zach Lowe, who mentioned the three teams by name as potential trade suitors for Hayward. These three teams would all be very intriguing landing spots for Hayward in their own ways.
All three teams have been talked about as potential trade destinations. Hayward is a very good player, although he is no longer considered the star franchise player that he once was with the Utah Jazz.
Looking at the potential trade destinations for Hayward, the Pacers stick out as the best. Indiana is a contender in the Eastern Conference and they have a talented roster built up. A trade to the Pacers would also be a homecoming for Hayward.
Both the Hawks and Hornets are young teams looking to get back into playoff contention. Trading for Hayward could help them boost those chances. He would also be a main offensive focal point on those teams.
During the 2019-20 NBA season with the Celtics, Hayward ended up averaging 17.5 points per game to go along with 6.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists. He shot 50 percent from the floor and knocked down 38.3 percent of his three-point attempts.
Those numbers would look good for the Hawks, Hornets, and Pacers. Whoever ends up acquiring him will be very happy that they did so. Hayward could be a piece that helps power these teams into serious contention.
Expect to hear more rumors about Gordon Hayward in the coming hours. With the NBA Draft tonight, we could find out where Hayward is headed next very soon.
