NBA insider makes Celtics’ stance on James Harden trade clear

The Boston Celtics were recently rumored as having an interest in a trade for Houston Rockets superstar James Harden. That appears to no longer be the case based on the information from an NBA insider.

According to Boston Herald’s Mark Murphy, the Celtics have ‘no interest’ in a potential trade with the Rockets for Harden.

The Rockets are motivated to trade Harden to an Eastern Conference team if they were to elect to move on from him. The Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers were both on his list of preferred landing spots— meaning the Celtics could have to go up against him.

At some point, the Celtics need to put aside their infatuation with wanting all these NBA Draft picks and young players if they want to win a championship. Boston has made the Eastern Conference Finals numerous times recently and has lost to teams with established NBA stars.

It’s certainly justifiable to view Jayson Tatum as untouchable given the progression he has made in his development. However, Jaylen Brown will never come close to reaching the level James Harden has achieved in his NBA career— making it logical to include him in a trade.

The Boston Celtics will need to push their chips into the center of the table at some point. If it’s not for James Harden and they passed on Anthony Davis, Paul George, Jimmy Butler, and others, then which NBA star will they end up ever making a push to acquire?
