Here’s what the Warriors want in trade for No. 2 pick in 2020 NBA Draft

The Golden State Warriors will look to re-tool around Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson using the 2020 NBA Draft. Could a trade using the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft be the answer to get it done?

According to Sports Illustrated’s Jeremy Woo, the Warriors prefer to trade down from the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft while gaining a rotation player in the process.

Teams interested in Wiseman have operated under the thought that that they have to trade up in front of Charlotte, and the Warriors have expressed a degree of interest in moving back in the lottery, so there’s a clear opportunity for a deal here.

I’m told Golden State would prefer to add a veteran rotation player and move back in the lottery in exchange for this pick, with Andrew Wiggins and his massive salary a candidate to move elsewhere to make money work.

The idea of including Andrew Wiggins in a trade with the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft is intriguing. If the Warriors aren’t sold on his potential meet his value, executing a trade using a top asset in a weak class would be a logical move to maximize the configuration of the roster.

With Wiggins being a minimally impactful off-ball offensive threat and a subpar defender, there’s not much reason to be optimistic about his fit with a healthy Warriors team. Golden State doesn’t have time to waste when it comes to contending for an NBA title.

It will be fascinating to see what the Golden State Warriors end up pulling off in the 2020 NBA Draft. They have done a superb job of putting out smokescreen report after smokescreen report during the lead up to the start of the actual event.
