Heat expected to re-sign Goran Dragic and Jae Crowder

The Miami Heat made a surprising run to the NBA Finals last season and are going to be viewed as a top-notch contender in the Eastern Conference again in 2020-21. Entering the offseason, the Heat have two key players set to hit free agency. Those players are Goran Dragic and Jae Crowder.

According to a report from 5 Reasons Sports Network, the Heat are expected to end up re-signing both Dragic and Crowder this offseason.

Obviously, this source is not an NBA insider, so take the report with a grain of salt. They do, however, cover the Heat specifically, so it seems a bit more likely that they know what they are talking about.

Assuming this report is true, the Heat have to be very happy. Both Dragic and Crowder were big reasons for their success in the postseason. Keeping them would give the Heat a very good chance to compete for another Finals run.

During the 2019-20 NBA season with the Heat, Dragic ended up averaging 16.2 points per game to go along with 5.1 assists and 3.2 rebounds. In the playoffs, he averaged 19.1 points, 4.4 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game. Crowder, on the other hand, chipped in 11.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game after being acquired from the Memphis Grizzlies.

With slim pickings in free agency this offseason, being able to keep two quality role players would be a nice surprise for the Heat. Other teams are going to have a lot of interest in both of these guys.

All of that being said, expect to see the Heat do everything they can to retain Goran Dragic and Jae Crowder. This report may end up falling through, but for now, there is reason for optimism in Miami. Both of these guys are fan favorites and this report should be exciting news for the entire fan base.
