The Chicago Bulls have been linked to no shortage of rumors in regards to a potential trade up in the 2020 NBA Draft. The prospect they are targeting with those efforts is former Memphis product James Wiseman.
According to our own Brett Siegel, the prospect the Chicago Bulls are eyeing with their efforts to trade up in the 2020 NBA Draft is Wiseman. A deal with the Golden State Warriors for the No. 2 pick is unlikely to occur until after the Minnesota Timberwolves make their selection.
Standing at 7-foot-1, Wiseman would provide intriguing size and athleticism to any NBA team that selects him. He displayed promising signs with Memphis during a short NCAA career. If the Bulls are sold on his potential, packaging Wendell Carter Jr. in a deal makes perfect sense.
It’s clear the Bulls need more dynamic talent in order to become more competitive in the Eastern Conference. So far, Carter Jr. hasn’t provided much of a forceful impact on defense— at least not enough to warrant being a game-changing talent. His value on offense has been subpar, too.

Having a dynamic rim protector can go a long way for a defense. Carter Jr. still has potential in this regard and has the necessary standing reach to be impactful, but Wiseman has more pop athletically. With the right NBA development staff, he could become quite promising on that end.
If James Wiseman truly ends up being an option for the Chicago Bulls, they must capitalize on the opportunity. He could form an impressive frontcourt duo with Lauri Markannen while growing with Coby White and Zach LaVine out on the perimeter.
