The single-greatest storyline facing the Milwaukee Bucks organization is the future of Giannis Antetokounmpo. He is eligible to sign a supermax contract extension that would keep him in the same NBA market long-term.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Bucks have been ‘operating under the belief’ that Giannis Antetokounmpo will sign the supermax contract extension in the ‘coming days.’
The Bucks ended up coming up short in the NBA bubble by getting eliminated by the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. Such an outcome was a major upset since Milwaukee was widely expected to make a run at the NBA Finals led by Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Since coming up short in the NBA playoffs, the Bucks have been busy working improving their roster around Giannis Antetokounmpo. Ahead of the 2020 NBA Draft, Milwaukee acquired Jrue Holiday from the New Orleans Pelicans using a significant amount of NBA Draft compensation.

There has been no shortage of talk linking Giannis Antetokounmpo to the teams like the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks if he were to reach NBA free agency next offseason. He would end those possibilities by signing the supermax contract extension with the Bucks.
The aggressive trade the Milwaukee Bucks made to land Jrue Holiday should at least show Giannis Antetokounmpo they’re willing to take risks to win an NBA championship. It didn’t seem they were going to execute such a move when they had ‘no interest’ in a Chris Paul trade.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is coming off a second consecutive NBA MVP campaign using averages of 29.5 points, 13.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks. He has put together a level of production that hasn’t been seen in a long time— only achieved by true legends of the game.
