Why The Trade Benefits The Spurs
If the Spurs are serious about getting younger, they will have to trade LaMarcus Aldridge and DeRozan. This deal benefits them because they would be getting rid of one of their aging stars who is owed a ton of money.
Dejounte Murray is the future of the Spurs and Wiggins would be a nice compliment on the perimeter. The really attractive aspect as a rebuilding franchise is moving up to No. 2 in the draft. This move would give the Spurs a chance to land either Anthony Edwards or LaMelo Ball. They could even opt for Wiseman if they want a big.
Gregg Popovich has always been fond of his bigs. Murray, Wiggins, and the No. 2 pick is a good place to start a rebuild.
San Antonio has been the best franchise in basketball for quite some time. They seem to do everything right, so it would be difficult to argue with them, outside of trading Kawhi Leonard. If this deal is on the table, it makes the most sense for the Spurs and they should jump at it.
