Why the Trade Benefits the Dallas Mavericks
The Mavericks took the next step and made the postseason in the bubble. They took the Los Angeles Clippers to six games, but did not have enough firepower to take them down. That could make them look for another star in the offseason.
Derrick Rose might not be the player they had in mind, but it is not a bad option. Rose has proven in Detroit that he has some left in the tank and could use a change of pace with a new team, just like Blake Griffin. He is a player who can handle the ball and run the offense.
Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis are the focal points and Rose can put them in a good position on the offensive end. He just adds another threat. Rose can still score and is a player who defenses will have to worry about.
It is always more difficult to guard three than two. Dallas is looking toward the future and is interested in moving up in the West. That will require them to make a move or two in the offseason and this trade with the Pistons and Hornets could be exactly what they need.
