Why the Trade Benefits the Charlotte Hornets

The Hornets are currently slotted third overall in the upcoming NBA Draft. There have been talks about them trading down and this deal has them doing that and acquiring more assets.

Charlotte could trade away No. 3 but gain No. 7 and No. 18, along with a first-rounder in three years. In this draft, there might not be a huge difference between the third and seventh selection. There are no Zion Williamson-type products coming out.

They would be able to get a solid player at seven. Charlotte would also land Blake Griffin in this deal. The breakout season from Devonte’ Graham gives the team room to trade away Rozier if they want. The pick-and-roll combination of Graham and Griffin would be an exciting one.

The Hornets need to completely re-tool their roster. Whether it is with draft picks or trades, they need to do something. This would help immediately.
