Why The Trade Benefits The Kings
It is clear the De’Aaron Fox is the future in Sacramento. Hield was supposed to be a part of that, just look at his contract, but it has not worked out that way. Hield wants out of town and it would benefit the Kings to find a trade partner.
First and foremost, if a player is unhappy, it is important to get him off the roster as soon as possible. It would do neither side any good for Buddy Hield to stick around.
In this trade, they would be getting back pieces at each level. Hardaway Jr. could take over as that second option behind Fox in the backcourt. Cauley-Stein is an athletic big down low and Powell can contribute all over the floor. The Kings are in the midst of a rebuild and this deal would point them in the right direction.
Mainly, getting a return for an unhappy player is something that should intrigue the Kings. This is a deal that could happen sooner than later if Sacramento gets the right return.
