The Houston Rockets may soon trade James Harden but it’s going to come for a massive price. The Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers have been linked as potential trade partners, but will they be willing to part with the necessary pieces for the former NBA MVP?
According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahom, the Rockets are asking for a young star and a massive amount of NBA Draft picks in exchange for any trade involving Harden.
While the Nets do have some intriguing talents to offer like Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Jarrett Allen, none of those players are good enough to fit the bill as being the centerpiece of a trade for a perennial MVP candidate like Harden.
The 76ers do have the better potential trade package if they are willing to part with either Joel Embiid or Ben Simmons. That doesn’t appear to be the case based on the reports that have been put out so far.

With the Rockets favoring to send James Harden to the Eastern Conference in a potential trade, it may not be to a team on his preferred list. It remains to be seen which teams could emerge as a dark-horse suitor fitting that description since the minimum compensation to get it done is massive.
While it will come at a high cost, being able to trade for James Harden is a rare opportunity. LeBron James no longer being in the Eastern Conference should promote a team to take a chance on pursuing a trade with the Houston Rockets to potentially make an NBA Finals run.
