The Boston Celtics could face the need to trade Gordon Hayward if he seeks a sign-and-trade sequence to land with a different team. They will have plenty of options around the NBA to facilitate such a sequence.
According to Yahoo Sports’ Keith Smith, there are multiple teams who have expressed interest in a sign-and-trade for Gordon Hayward. There is a desire for a long-term commitment.
With Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown on the wing, it’s not a necessity for the Celtics to retain Hayward. He may want to hold a larger role within a team’s offense and the best way to achieve that would be via trade to a new landing spot.
One team that has been linked often to Hayward as a potential landing spot is the Indiana Pacers. A possible swap featuring Myles Turner could be an option but will require more trade compensation in order for it to be a mutually beneficial exchange.

The Pacers would be able to feature Hayward on the wing as Victor Oladipo appears to be headed for a potential departure next NBA offseason. It would be an intriguing lineup combination to have Malcolm Brogdon, TJ Warren, and Domantas Sabonis along with Hayward.
Gordon Hayward is coming off a bounce-back season with the Boston Celtics— pitching in averages of 17.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists in 52 appearances. He achieved these results in a lesser role suggesting a reason for optimism from other NBA teams.
