Bucks, Knicks, Jazz to pursue Rodney Hood in NBA free agency

Every team in the NBA will be looking to add an intriguing free agent. The Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, and Utah Jazz may have their eyes on the same talent.

According to Legion Hoops Ross, the Bucks, Knicks, and Jazz all will pursue free agent Rodney Hood this NBA offseason.

During the 2019-20 NBA season, Rodney Hood produced averages of 11.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 21 performances with the Portland Trail Blazers. He suffered a torn Achilles injury that ended his season early.

With the Trail Blazers trading for Robert Covington in a deal from the Houston Rockets, there isn’t a pressing need for them to retain Hood. This should create an opportunity for teams like the Bucks, Knicks, and Jazz to make a play for the swingman in free agency.

The Bucks will be in need of adding more depth on the wing after executing a sign-and-trade deal with the Sacramento Kings for Bogdan Bogdanovic. Hood could provide a helpful shot creation impact off the bench en route to contending for an NBA title.

The Jazz are another contender that could use more offensive firepower coming off the bench. Jordan Clarkson provided this type of spark for them last NBA season, but he is an unrestricted free agent and may not return to Utah.

As for the Knicks, adding perimeter talent that can score the ball is a priority. New York has struggled mightily on that end relying on recent NBA Draft selections to experience progress in their development.

This year’s NBA free agency class is considered weaker than what the usual year may offer. There are still talents like Rodney Hood that can step in and make a positive impact for really any type of team— whether’s for the Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, or Utah Jazz.
