Knicks, Lakers have had trade talks about Kyle Kuzma

The New York Knicks are looking to make some moves this offseason that will help them get back into playoff contention. Chris Paul was a target, but was traded to the Phoenix Suns, and Russell Westbrook is another name to watch. However, it appears that Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma could be a legitimate target as well.

According to a report from Ross of Legion Hoops, the Knicks and Lakers have had trade discussions centered around Kuzma this offseason.

Kuzma would be a very intriguing addition for the Knicks. He has big-time potential, but has yet to unlock all of it. Perhaps a change of scenery to New York and a bigger role would help him realize his full potential.

Last season with the Lakers, Kuzma ended up averaging 12.8 points per game to go along with 4.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists. He shot 43.6 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 31.6 percent from the three-point line.

Those numbers may not look amazing, but he is better than the numbers show. At times, he was trying to force the issue a bit too much. That would change with a bigger role and getting away from LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

At just 25 years old, Kuzma still has a lot of room to develop. He also has a skill-set that would fit the Knicks perfectly. They need a legitimate top scorer and Kuzma has the ability to score at a high level.

No one knows what kind of price tag would come with Kuzma. But, it is obvious that the Lakers aren’t going to trade him unless they get something back in return that helps them win. They are all in with James and Davis.

Expect to hear more about this report in the coming hours and days. Kyle Kuzma is a hot commodity and a trade to the Knicks would be extremely intriguing.
