Kendrick Perkins reveals huge expectations for Suns with Chris Paul

The Phoenix Suns made a massive blockbuster trade to open up the NBA offseason. Chris Paul was rumored as a target for them, but many did not think they would end up getting him. However, they were able to pull off a deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Now, the Suns are confident in their ability to push for the playoffs next season. Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, and Paul will form a very intriguing “big three” in Phoenix moving forward.

Former NBA player Kendrick Perkins is among those who absolutely love this trade. He laid out some huge expectations for the Suns now that they have Paul on the roster.

“The Phoenix Suns are a threat in the West. They’re going to be a top five team … and don’t be surprised if they make it to the Western Conference Finals.”

Talk about a big leap forward with just one move. If the Suns were to make a push all the way to the Western Conference Finals, this trade would go down as one of the biggest wins in NBA history.

Paul certainly made a difference last season for a Thunder team who wasn’t given much of a chance to compete. He is still an elite star point guard and will play a huge role to help take pressure off of Booker.

Last season with the Thunder, Paul ended up averaging 17.6 points per game to go along with 6.7 assists and 5.0 rebounds. He also chipped in 1.6 steals per game. Paul shot 48.9 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 36.5 percent from the three-point line.

At 35 years old, Paul has shown no signs of slowing down. That is the version of Paul that the Suns will be getting. He still has plenty of top-notch basketball left in him.

It will be interesting to see what the Suns look like next season. Chris Paul is going to be a huge difference maker and a run to the playoffs should be expected. The Western Conference Finals, however, is a huge goal.
