Bulls pursuing a trade for Celtics guard Kemba Walker

The Boston Celtics are looking to make some moves this offseason and have reportedly made Kemba Walker available in certain trade discussions. Now, it appears that the Chicago Bulls are looking to make a push to acquire the star point guard.

According to a report from Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, the Bulls have reached out to the Celtics in an attempt to acquire Walker.

Whether or not the Celtics have made Walker widely available or not remains to be seen. There were rumblings that Boston was trying to move Walker for picks in an attempt to acquire Jrue Holiday from the Pelicans. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen and Holiday was traded to the Bucks.

Walker is a very underrated star at the point guard position. He is a pure scorer and would be a huge addition for the Bulls.

The Bulls have struggled over the past few years and they are looking to break back into the playoff picture. Acquiring a player like Walker would help them do that. Hiring Billy Donovan as their new head coach was also a very positive move in the right direction.

During the 2019-20 NBA season with the Celtics, Walker ended up averaging 20.4 points per game to go along with 4.8 assists and 3.9 rebounds. He shot 42.5 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 38.1 percent of his three-point attempts.

If the Bulls are able to pull off a trade for Kemba Walker, they would immediately be a team to watch in the Eastern Conference. Depending on what they have to give up, they could make a push at a playoff spot.

Zach LaVine, Lauri Markkanen, Wendell Carter Jr., and Walker would be a solid lineup. More than likely, the Celtics would want the No. 4 overall pick in the trade package. Chicago should happily give that up if they can keep their young core together.

Expect to hear plenty more rumors surrounding the Bulls and Celtics in the coming hours and days. Kemba Walker could very well be on the move at some point this offseason.
