Ricky Rubio speaks out about Suns trading him for Chris Paul

The Phoenix Suns and Oklahoma City Thunder came together on a massive trade that sent Chris Paul to the Suns. Ricky Rubio was one of the pieces shipped back to the Thunder in the trade. He doesn’t seem to be too thrilled with the move.

Following the blockbuster trade, Rubio took to Twitter to share some thoughts on being moved by the Suns.

Rubio put together a solid season in his one year with the Suns. He ended up averaging 13.0 points per game to go along with 8.8 assists and 4.7 rebounds. While he was a solid point guard for Phoenix, there is no doubt that Paul is the better player.

Phoenix is looking to make a serious push at the playoffs this season. That is what made them approach this trade so aggressively with the Thunder.

Looking ahead to the future, Rubio could end up being the new starting point guard for the Thunder. Sam Presti may choose to shop him around in a potential second move, but keeping him would not be a bad option either.

Along with Rubio, the Thunder were able to acquire Kelly Oubre, Ty Jerome, Jalen Lecque, and a 2022 first-round pick from the Suns. Not a bad return for Chris Paul, who was never going to be in their long-term plans.

It will be interesting to see what the Thunder end up doing throughout the rest of the offseason. They just shipped Dennis Schroder to the Los Angeles Lakers. Danny Green was acquired in that trade and they are going to reportedly look to move him in a second deal as well.

Expect to hear a lot more rumors coming out of Oklahoma City surrounding the Thunder. Ricky Rubio is no longer with the Suns and could move again, but Phoenix has to be ecstatic that they were able to get Chris Paul to pair with Devin Booker.
