The Phoenix Suns are entering the NBA offseason with quite a bit of excitement. After a huge showing during the re-start in the bubble, Devin Booker and company firmly believe that they can make a run at the playoffs next season if they make a quality addition or two to the roster.
While many rumors this offseason have connected the Suns to a trade for a star, they could also focus on adding quality role players in free agency.
According to a report from Ross from Legion Hoops, the Suns are expected to pursue Kentavious Caldwell-Pope this offseason in free agency.
Caldwell-Pope is going to draw interest from quite a few teams around the NBA. After helping lead the Los Angeles Lakers to an NBA Finals win last season, his value has skyrocketed. He could help a team like the Suns a lot.
During the 2019-20 NBA season with the Lakers, Caldwell-Pope ended up averaging 9.3 points per game to go along with 2.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists. He also ended up shooting 38.5 percent from the three-point line.
Granted, this is not the flashy move that the Suns are hoping to make. However, it could be a nice supporting move alongside a bigger move this offseason. Caldwell-Pope would be a nice addition and would fit into the system that Phoenix runs.
Only time will tell what the Suns end up doing. Caldwell-Pope is going to have a lot of interest from either teams and may not choose to sign with the Suns even if they pursue him heavily. But, he is a target to keep an eye on.
Expect to hear more rumors about the Suns and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in the coming days. With free agency right around the corner, fans are in for a lot of action.
