The Philadelphia 76ers are coming off a disappointing 2019-20 NBA season that ended with playoff elimination in the first round. They will look to reconfigure the roster to turn things around. Could a trade for New Orleans Pelicans’ Jrue Holiday be an option?
According to The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey, the 76ers are among the many teams interested in trading for Holiday.
Sources have said the Sixers are among the many teams interested in Holiday, the Sixers’ 2009 first-round pick who went to the Pelicans in the 2013 trade that brought Nerlens Noel to Philadelphia.
With the Pelicans holding a preference of sending Holiday to the Eastern Conference, the 76ers will be in a favorable position. It just remains to be seen what Philadelphia would offer in a potential trade package.
With Daryl Morey now at the helm, the focus surrounding the 76ers isn’t on Holiday as a trade target. James Harden reportedly views Philadelphia as one of his two preferred landing spots after wanting to be traded— making that the spotlighted storyline to monitor.

It’s difficult to envision the 76ers being a cohesive match for Holiday’s skill-set. He isn’t a proficient pull-up shooter and if Philadelphia were to make a push to trade for a star guard, it needs to be for one that thrives in that critical area.
The New Orleans Pelicans are in a position where trading Jrue Holiday is the most logical outcome this NBA offseason. Building around Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson is the top priority and Holiday doesn’t fit within the timeline. But will it be the Philadelphia 76ers that trades for him?
