This team is “strong threat” to trade for Pelicans’ Jrue Holiday

The New Orleans Pelicans have been shopping star point guard Jrue Holiday around in trade talks early on this offseason. With the NBA offseason in full swing and trades being allowed to take shape on Monday, Holiday could be on the move soon. One team to keep a close eye on is the Denver Nuggets.

According to a report from Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, the Nuggets are a “strong threat” to trade for Holiday this offseason.

Holiday would be a perfect addition for the Nuggets. They would form a lethal back-court duo of Holiday and Jamal Murray. Both players would be able to handle the ball, create their own shot, and fit well alongside each other.

During the 2019-20 NBA season with the Pelicans, Jrue Holiday ended up averaging 19.1 points per game to go along with 6.7 assists and 4.8 rebounds. He shot 45.5 percent from the floor and knocked down 35.3 percent of his three-point attempts.

Last season, the Nuggets were a strong contender in the Western Conference. They ended up making a run to the Western Conference Finals, where they came up short against LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the Los Angeles Lakers. Acquiring Holiday would help them be even stronger.

At 30 years old, Holiday is still in his prime. He is an underrated star, but is one of the better two-way guards in the NBA.

If the Nuggets do want to acquire him, they would have to give up some value in return. One name that would make sense heading back to the Pelicans would be Gary Harris. Denver could also offer up some draft capital.

Expect to hear a lot more rumors surrounding Jrue Holiday as the offseason continues forward. The Pelicans aren’t going to move him just to make a trade, but they will pull the trigger for the right price. If the Nuggets are serious about getting a deal done, they have the assets to make it happen.
