One of the biggest names on the trading block this offseason has been Russell Westbrook. He has spent one season with Houston and it has not worked out the way it was expected. That could lead to the Rockets trading away one of their superstars.
Westbrook missed time during the restart with an injury. The Rockets have brought in Stephen Silas to be the new head coach and that means that we might see a new style of basketball in Houston. They are a team that relies heavily on speed and the three-point ball, but with Mike D’Antoni off the sideline, that might change.
Plenty of teams have been linked to Westbrook this offseason, most notably the New York Knicks. If the Knicks pull the trigger, they would be looking to add excitement to their roster. They do not have a chance at competing in the near future unless Westbrook is able to lure some free agents.
There are other desirable destinations for the veteran point guard but the Rockets might not want to trade him to a contender.
If they decide to, there are plenty of contending teams that could be interested in Russell Westbrook’s services. Let’s take a look at three that jump out right away.
