Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Pistons
Andrew Wiggins is the first reason that this deal makes obvious season. It has been a long time since the Pistons have had a young player with the kind of potential that the current Warriors’ small forward has.
At 25 years old, Wiggins is just entering his prime. Last season split between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Warriors, Wiggins averaged 21.8 points per game to go along with 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists. He shot over 33 percent from the three-point line.
If the Pistons were to move on from Griffin, they would need another big contract coming back. Wiggins has that big contract and would be a much better long-term fit for Detroit.
As for the No. 2 overall pick, the Pistons would be able to get a dynamic guard like Anthony Edwards or LaMelo Ball. That would make this trade a huge win for Detroit.
Obviously, the Pistons could use more young talent to speed up their rebuild. With Blake Griffin aging quickly, this move would make a ton of sense.
