Why the Trade Works for the Charlotte Hornets

It has been a tough process for the Charlotte Hornets to build a successful roster that can contend in the Eastern Conference. That doesn’t look like it’s going to change anytime soon. Could Russell Westbrook be a potential answer?

There seems to be a belief from many experts that every team needs to be incredibly principled and is capable of building a championship contender. The Charlotte Hornets simply aren’t a franchise that can do that by building through the NBA Draft and being patient.

At some point, having players who are fun to watch and making the playoffs has to count for something. Westbrook would help the Hornets to achieve both of those.

There is a real pathway for a talent like Westbrook to be able to carry a team to a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. For a team that is on the fringe of earning one of those spots each season, that’s got to count for something.
