There has not been an NBA offseason like this one for many reasons. Now the focus will be on big name players in trade rumors all around the league. Two of which are in this deal— Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid and Minnesota Timberwolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns.
Towns is one of the best big men in the NBA but there is a chance he might want out of Minnesota in the near future. Minnesota currently holds the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and they brought in D’Angelo Russell.
The Timberwolves is clearly trying to build a winner to keep Towns around but it might not be working. If he is dealt, there wIll be many suitors interested and it would make sense for Minnesota to pursue a logical log-term solution in his place.
The Philadelphia 76ers are another team that needs to make some changes. This means that either Ben Simmons or Joel Embiid could be on the move this offseason. In this deal, Embiid is sent to Minnesota to try and help their rebuild.
This is a simple deal but with two players like Towns and Embiid, it is a blockbuster. Let’s take a closer look at how it would go down.
