NBA GM reveals intriguing player comparison for LaMelo Ball

LaMelo Ball, NBA Draft

LaMelo Ball is a name that fans and the media have been watching closely as the 2020 NBA Draft continues to draw closer. Some believe he will be a top-three pick, while others think he could slide a bit. He has not had the best interviews throughout the draft process, but is still a massive talent.

Standing in at 6-foot-7, Ball is a huge body for a point guard. He brings the ability to shoot and make plays, although his defense is a bit of a question mark.

With the NBA Draft right around the corner, many fans are interested in hearing some pro comparisons for the draft prospects. One NBA general manager has a very intriguing comparison for Ball.

“You know, he reminds me a lot of Jason ‘White Chocolate’ Williams. He might be a better scorer, but his ability to make the flashy pass and create for his teammates is obvious. Ball is going to be a fun playmaker to watch.”

Williams was a fan favorite during his time in the NBA. He always seemed to make a flashy pass and made fans tune in to watch him. Ball absolutely has that kind of ability.

During the 2019-20 season in Australia, LaMelo Ball averaged 17.0 points per game to go along with 7.6 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 1.6 steals. He shot 37.5 percent from the floor and 25 percent from the three-point line. Those numbers came in 12 games played.

Obviously, his shooting numbers are a bit of a disappointment. Ball has always been talked about as a talented shooter throughout his career. He will need to put in a lot of work to become a lethal three-point threat at the NBA level.

Much like his brother, Lonzo Ball, there are questions about LaMelo Ball’s work ethic. There are also questions about how much of a headache Ball’s father, LaVar Ball, could end up becoming for the franchise that takes him.

No matter who ends up drafting LaMelo Ball, they are going to be getting a player who has the raw talent and potential to be special. He has the playmaking ability and if he can develop his offensive game, the sky is the limit.

Only time will tell if Ball can become that player, but the NBA Draft is right around the corner. It will be interesting to find out where he will begin his career.
