Phoenix Suns Have Discussed Trade For Chris Paul
In the previous edition of the NBA rumor round-up, it was mentioned that ‘no traction’ has occurred between the Milwaukee Bucks and Oklahoma City Thunder for a potential Chris Paul trade. Given their restrictive salary cap landscape, a deal between these two teams appears unlikely to occur.
Now, it appears the Phoenix Suns could be a team to make something happen in a deal for Paul. After pulling off an intriguing 8-0 record in the NBA bubble, they appear to be an ascending team that could take the next step by adding Paul into the mix.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst and Tim Bontemps, the Suns have discussed executing a trade for Paul to pair him with Devin Booker. It’s important to note, a deal is not imminent between the two sides.
The Thunder will need to pursue a trade for Paul with a team that has a flexible salary cap situation with some intriguing NBA Draft capital. That’s not an easy combination to find given the landscape of the league as most teams face a tough financial situation.
At this point, the Suns do appear to be the most likely landing spots for Paul. Phoenix is an organization that is ascending and in need of showing Devin Booker, they can make it to the NBA playoffs sooner rather than later. No better way to do it than to land an All-NBA point guard.
