Orlando Magic Listening To Calls For Aaron Gordon
It has been a long wait for the Orlando Magic to see if Aaron Gordon would ever reach an All-Star level. After being afforded ample opportunity in the playmaking responsibility department, he has flat out failed to do so. In fact, it appears he regressed last season.
Even though Jonathan Isaac will likely miss all of the upcoming NBA season due to a torn ACL, he’s a clear-cut better option to build around. Both Gordon and Isaac are best suited playing the four spot— making it logical to trade Gordon to optimize the roster.
Based on a report by The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, the Magic have had conversations about trading Gordon. There wasn’t a mention of any particular teams that have participated in such discussions— just that they have occurred, nonetheless.
The lack of progress Gordon has experienced in the perimeter department is particularly troubling. Then factor in how he still is an inefficient pull-up shooter and doesn’t create shots for teammates particularly well— it’s easy to see why the Magic would consider a trade.
As far as ideal landing spots are concerned, a team that has a stretch-five with a need for an athletic wing at the four is the best option. The Minnesota Timberwolves with Karl-Anthony Towns come to mind given the imitations he has defensively.
