Why the Trade Benefits the Houston Rockets
After much excitement from the Housotn Rockets organization surrounding their chances with James Harden and Russell Westbrook, the organization is in a state of flux. Now, Daryl Morey and Mike D’Antoni no longer are with the team after a disappointing end to last season.
An argument certainly can be made for the Rockets being best suited to move on from Westbrook this NBA offseason. It would help Houston to add intriguing pieces to surround Harden and enable him to go back to being an ultra high-usage playmaker.
There would be unique circumstances in this trade scenario when considering James Harden already has experience playing with Montrezl Harrell, Lou Williams, and Patrick Beverley. All of these players were a part of the Chris Paul trade.
The Rockets would have a legitimate pick-and-roll threat in Harrell to pair with Harden with Beverley as a ‘3-and-D’ guard alongside him. Meanwhile, Williams would be able to come off the bench and provide a real scoring punch as he did during his previous tenure.
