The best trade Clippers can offer Rockets for Russell Westbrook

Los Angeles Clippers Receive: Russell Westbrook

Houston Rockets Receive: Montrezl Harrell (Sign & Trade), Lou Williams, Patrick Beverley, Rodney McGruder, 2020 2nd Round Pick (via LAC), 2022 2nd Round Pick (via ATL)

Assuming the Los Angeles Clippers would not put Paul George on the table to execute a potential Russell Westbrook trade, the logistics become quite complicated. The simplest pathway would be involving Montrezl Harrell in a sign-and-trade deal, but he’d need to want to go to the Houston Rockets.

Westbrook is set to earn $41.3 million during the upcoming NBA season— making it difficult to match salary. However, either including Paul George in a potential deal would make it work financially, or a sizable contract agreement between Harrell and the Rockets.

It certainly doesn’t help the Clippers’ efforts to pursue a Westbrook trade that they exhausted their 1st round selections to land Paul George. Not having that value makes it tough to field a competitive trade package from the Rockets’ perspective.

Let’s take a look at the perspectives of the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers in this particular blockbuster NBA trade featuring Russell Westbrook.
