New Orleans Pelicans Receive: Al Horford, 2020 1st Round Pick (via No. 25 Pick), 2022 1st Round Pick (via PHI)

Philadelphia 76ers Receive: JJ Redick, Darius Miller, Nicolo Melli

The New Orleans Pelicans will be in need of adding a stretch-five to pair with the unique interior talent that is Zion Williamson in the frontcourt. Myles Turner has been a target in the past and still could be this NBA offseason, but Al Horford is another to monitor.

The Philadelphia 76ers clearly need to move on from Horford since it’s clearly not the best method to build around Joel Embiid. Tobias Harris needs to slot in at the four spot to regain a lot of his value to live up to the substantial salary cap spending dedicated to him.

With the 2020 NBA Draft being a weak class, the No. 25 pick shouldn’t be viewed as having as much value as it may normally provide. That’s why including an additional future 1st round selection going to the Pelicans makes it a fair trade for taking on Horford’s contract and sending value.
