Denver Nuggets Receive: Victor Oladipo

Indiana Pacers Receive: Gary Harris, 2020 1st Round Pick (No. 22 via HOU)

The Indiana Pacers will enter the NBA offseason with a need to determine Victor Oladipo’s future with the organization. His trade value is low, but does the team really want to drag this out to the mid-season trade deadline or risk losing him for nothing next offseason?

It’s important to take the financial element of this scenario into account. The Denver Nuggets are set to have Harris under contract through the 2021-22 season. By trading for Oladipo’s $21 million expiring deal, Denver would clear substantial cap space ahead of a loaded free-agent class.

In the meantime, taking a risk on the two-time All-Star to see if he can regain his previous form is a logical move. Oladipo has reached levels Harris was hoped to be able to achieve but hasn’t done. Even if it’s a slight upgrade, the salary cap benefit makes it worthwhile.
