Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: Blake Griffin, 2020 1st Round Pick (No. 7)

Detroit Pistons Receive: James Johnson, Jacob Evans, 2020 1st Round Pick (No. 1)

The fit for many of the top projected prospects in the 2020 NBA Draft likely would be awkward for the Minnesota Timberwolves. This would be an opportunity for them to trade down and add an All-Star talent in Blake Griffin to pair with Karl-Anthony Towns in the frontcourt.

Both Griffin and Towns can bully mismatches, thrive on the boards, and have a genuine ability to knock down jumpers from deep. There would be limitations defensively, but overall, leaning on an offense-heavy approach could help to maximize their results as a unit.

The Detroit Pistons have an interest in adding LaMelo Ball and they are currently out of position to get it done at No. 7 overall. Parting with Griffin would help them to move up in the NBA Draft order to add an intriguing prospect to further the rebuilding process.
