This Heat-Pelicans trade sends Jrue Holiday to South Beach

Earlier this week, there was a report from The Athletic that the New Orleans Pelicans are open to trading Jrue Holiday. It also stated that NBA contenders are interested in acquiring the Pelicans guard, and one team that would make sense is the Miami Heat to pair with Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler

Holiday would be an ideal fit in Miami alongside Jimmy Butler by making an impact offensively and defensively. Holiday brings a decade of experience with him and it would be helpful, especially in the event Goran Dragic wasn’t to return in free agency.

The Heat reportedly would like to add another star, and by moving a few salaries around, they could add Holiday. However, they will need to contemplate how they want to approach their situation given their desire to pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo next NBA offseason.

One benefit of adding Holiday is the fact that he can opt-out after 2021. That’s not to say he will — the option is worth $26 million — but if he does, it would give Miami maximum flexibility in the big summer of 2021.

Let’s take a look at a hypothetical trade that would send New Orleans Pelicans star Jrue Holiday to the Miami Heat— forming a standout trio with Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler.
