Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks are further ahead in their quest to become NBA title contenders than the Atlanta Hawks, as Dallas made the playoffs last season. Adding a talent with playoff experience like Gordon Hayward from his time with both the Utah Jazz and Boston Celtics would only help.

However, the Mavericks were immensely impacted by the loss of Kristaps Porzingis, and it was clear Dallas could use another option offensively. That could be Gordon Hayward, who would give Doncic (and Porzingis if he’s healthy) another running mate that they can lean on.

The idea of Hayward playing alongside Doncic with the Mavericks is one that is mutually beneficial. Dallas needs perimeter players that can hit open shots, attack off the catch, and occasionally handle playmaking responsibilities. He can checks all of those boxes.

The Mavericks have an incredibly bright future thanks to Doncic, who could be the face of the league one day. But in the immediate context of next season, Dallas needs some help if they’re going to build off the momentum of 2020.
